Importance of knowing God

If we believe there is a God but don’t truly know him, can we receive eternal life? What did Jesus Christ say when he came 2000 years ago? (John 17:3). Believing in God does not mean we can receive eternal life. Therefore, we should make every effort to know God in our lifetime. In Hosea it is written: “Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him” and “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.”  Then, how can we know God? (1 John 2:3). God’s commands lead us to the knowledge of God. If we don’t keep them, then God will never reveal Himself to us. Then, what are God’s commands? Some may say helping the poor, volunteering, etc. are God’s commands. Of course God wants us to do those things, but even non-Christians do these good deeds. Can we really say that those are the commands that lead us to the knowledge of God? In the Old Testament God established a covenant on Mount Sinai. God gave the Israelites commands and the feasts to be kept in adherence to that covenant. So to in the New Testament God established a New Covenant through which we are able to keep his commands and the feasts in adherence to that covenant. Through the Feasts of the New Covenant we are able to keep the commands of God, reconciling us to Christ, and we are able to come to a full knowledge of God. If we do not keep the Feasts of God, then we disobey the commands of Christ, and can not be the ones to say that we know God. (1 John 2:4-6). This is a very serious matter, for to know God is eternal life. What is the end result for those who do not know God? (2 Thessalonians 1:8). It is for this reason that we thank our Father Christ Ahnsahnghong, who came a second time to this earth so that we could come to a full knowledge of God. If he had not come, then our result would have been the same as those who claim to know him but never obey what he commands.
